Kerala boasts about having the highest literacy rates among big Indian states. It has, there is no denying. But, there are also some issues in Kerala which needs to be tackled urgently and immediately. One of those stuffs is respect for women. Kerala is widely known for being a place where women are only seen as an object of pleasure. It is nothing short of a paradox that a state with such an amazing literacy rates is replete with male having no regard for the dignity of women. The recent case of Jisha is just another case.
Profile of Jisha
Jisha is a Dalit law student. I know it is really wrong to pin the label of caste to a victim. But, that is how Indian media portrays victims these days. Please don't add caste element in such an act which will put the entire humanity to shame.
Jisha is being touted as Nirbhaya of Kerala. If you remember Nirbhaya, whose real name was Jyoti Singh Pandey, was brutally raped and killed in the most heinous manner in Delhi. That incident had made Indians quite angry and even Manmohan Singh government had to take some action, like closing down Delhi Metro, to control that anger.
Something like that has happened in Kerala.
Jisha a brilliant law student was found murdered in her house in Perumbavoor by her mother who had returned in the evening after work. When the post mortem report came out, everyone was surprised. The attacker had first raped Jisha and then used a sharp weapon to pull out her intestines. He had inserted the weapon through her vagina and brought out the intestines through vagina. Now, you can imagine how brutal it was. There is more! There was not less than 30 deep cut on her body. She was actually stabbed for 30 times. Her chest was severed in two pieces. Both of her boobs were chopped off. It is really tough to imagine how brutal, ruthless and inhuman the attacker was.
Indian mainstream media has not shown this news. They started to pick it up only when #justiceforjisha became a trend on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Well, for Indian media the TRP matters and they can get good TRP by abusing Hindus in anyway. For them, Jisha doesn’t exist or the incident was just like a mundane case.
Jisha was living with her mother. She has an elder sister who is already married. Her father had left her mother long back.
Jisha was always termed as a bright student in her locality. She used to tell everyone that one day she will practice in the Supreme Court of India. Her colleagues and classmates at Ernakulam Government Law College also vouch for her sincerity and dedication. She was a lovely and cool girl. And, that is why everyone is surprised about this incident. Why the rapist was so brutal?
The consistent pressure by a section of media works and the Kerala Police has claimed that it has arrested the rapist after around one and half month of this gory incident.
The DNA has already matched with the culprit with that of found on the crime scene, and hence it can be said that the Police has a strong case against the rapist.
The name of the rapist is Amir-Ur-Islam. He is basically from Assam and had come to Kerala as a migrant worker. He had worked in Jisha house as a construction worker.
