Arun Jaitley is on dialysis. He will get new kidney/s in the next few days at AIIMS. The medical emergency that he was going through was revealed only one week prior to the transplant. Medical status is a matter of privacy and that should be respected, but when it comes to kidney transplant, raised eyebrows are quite common.
The moot question is about the identity of the kidney donor.
As per grapevine, the donor is not related.
Indian laws give specific identification of relative who can donate kidney – parents, spouses, siblings, grandparents, children and grandchildren.
It is now very much clear that the donor is not a near relative to Arun Jaitely.
He/she is unrelated.
The prevailing rule is quite tough for unrelated donor. In majority of cases, it can take months to establish the motive of that donor. In many cases, it is simply denied.
The rules are strict to keep off possibility of organ trade.
But, rules have been mended or ignored for Arun Jaitley. He is getting kidney from an unrelated person. The entire process has been expedited for him and he is slated to get transplant within one week of hospital admission.
