Gauri Parashar Joshi is an IAS officer of Odisha cadre. She belongs to 2009 batch of Indian Administrative Services. Gauri has worked in Kalahandi for two years and had got appreciation from both administrative set ups and public at large. Those were her probationary days and at that time she had shown that proper execution of various government programs and policies at the ground level can lead to positive changes even in a region known for acute poverty and wide illiteracy like Kalahadi. Unfortunately, she didn’t work long for Odisha and shifted to her home state Haryana.

Gauri was born in the family of a politically and administratively well connected family. Her father R. N. Parashar was the Chief Adviser of Bhupinder Singh Hooda. In fact, R. N. Parashar has friends across the political spectrum and he is finding it easy to manage affairs even in the current BJP led state government.

Gauri started her schooling in Delhi. She has always been a brilliant student. She scored quite good in CBSE XII examination and easily got admission in the prestigious and coveted St. Stephen’s College. During her college days, she used to dream about becoming a journalist. To follow her passion, she appeared in the IIMC Entrance Test and easily cracked this tough exam.

She has done Diploma in Mass Communication from the prestigious Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi. Here, she got in touch with many journalists.

Again, at IIMC, she decided to change the course and become an IAS officer. She appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2008 and cracked it. Her All India Rank was 60 and hence she got her first choice for services IAS.

Husband of Gauri Parashar

The husband of Gauri Parashar is Ajit Joshi who is also an IAS officer. Ajit is quite distinguished and considered as a strict and honest officer. He belongs to Haryana Cadre.

After the marriage with Ajit, Gauri got deputation from Odisha cadre to Haryana. Since, Haryana is her home state and hence it is not possible for her to get this cadre now. It is because of this fact that Bhupinder Singh Hooda had written a letter to the then PM Manmohan Singh asking him to change the cadre of these two officers to Punjab. That shows the power of connection of Gauri’s father in law.

It should be noted that the cadre transfer couldn’t happen because of various reasons. However, Joshi duo remained favorite of the Haryana administrative set ups. She is still in Haryana on deputation and even getting plum post by CM Khattar. Recently, her deputation has been increased for two more years and hence she will remain in this state till 2018.

She is currently working with Haryana Urban Development Authority – HUDA.
