Shalini Agnihotri, IPS: Profile, Family, Boyfriend and Husband

Shalini Agnihotri gave a pleasant surprise to the nation when she cracked UPSC Civil Services Examination. The happiness among people was not because of a girl getting into the Civil Services, but because of the humble background she comes from. She is the daughter of a bus conductor. Her father fought all odds to provide the best possible education to her and she made him proud with her achievement. She got All India Rank 285 in her very first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services and got Indian Police Service – IPS.

Shalini was born on January 14, 1989 in Thathal village of Una district, Himachal Pradesh. Her parents Ramesh and Shubhlata Agnihotri are her rock solid support. She was a brilliant student from her childhood. Her parents had big expectation from her and hence they left no stone unturned to ensure the best possible education for her. She did schooling from DAV School, Dharmshala and later got admission in the prestigious Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur from where she completed her graduation in Agriculture.

After completing graduation, she joined ING Vysya Bank as a Relationship Officer. Her first attempt to go for Government job was appearing in the HP Assistant Conservator Exam which she had easily cracked in 2011. She was not satisfied with this and wanted to do more to justify the faith shown by her parents. Few months later, the news of UPSC Civil Services result was before everyone.

She got her Himachal Pradesh cadre – her first choice.

Shalini Agnihotri attracted national limelight at the Passing Out Parade – POP of 65^th Regular Recruits batch of Indian Police Service at NPA, Hyderabad. She got following two coveted awards at the completion of the training:

- She was adjudged Overall All Rounder Officer Trainee. This award ensures that she got the Home Minister’s revolver as a token of appreciation.

- She was also chosen as the best woman trainee officer of her batch. President Pranab Mukerjee gave her these awards in a ceremony.

For these achievements, she was selected for Himachal Excellence Award in 2013.
