Sarfaraz Khan was born in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh in 1997. His father Naushad went to Mumbai for work with all his family. He has two sons.

Naushad was a cricket coach and he started to coach both of his sons at the right age. He used to take them on bike from Kurla to Azad Maidan daily. His hard work started to give fruits when Sarfaraz showed immense talent with school team. After that, it is a history as Sarfaraz was not only selected for Mumbai, but seeing his explosive batting talent, Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL Team bought him for Rs. 50 lakhs. That was huge money for poor family. But, they remained grounded and quite humble, also.

Sarfaraz Khan had recently shifted to Uttar Pradesh in the domestic cricket. Naushad had personally requested to Rajiv Shukla regarding this who helped him to get No Objection Certificate from Mumbai Cricket Association.

Sarfaraz has deep respect for his father Naushad, who has really sacrificed his life for Sarfaraz. As a mark of respect, he wears a jersey numbered 97. You may see him with this number.
