Sinecod Forte is one of the most popular medicines for the treatment of respiratory tract infection and cough problems. It is manufactured and marketed by Novartis, a global pharmaceutical company.
Active Ingredients:
Sinecod Forte contains only
one ingredient, which is Butamirate Citrate.
Dosage
SinecodFote is available in
both tablet and syrup form. The dosage is given for both forms:
Tablet: 2 to 3 tablets in
one day (adult) and 1 – 2 tablets in one day for children below 6 years of age.
Syrup: 2 tablespoon three
times a day for adult and 1 tablespoon three times a day for children below 6
years of age.
Please remember, this
medicine is not intended to be given to children below 3 years.
Precaution
You are required to know
about certain precaution before taking this medicine. First of all is about the
duration for which you can take it. Please note that this medicine is widely
used as an over the counter product. However, if the cough persists for more
than 3 – 4 days then you are required to consult a doctor.
Further, you should know
that Sinecod Forte inhibits cough reflex. Because of this nature, you are
strongly advised to not take any cough expectorants simultaneously. Doing that
may lead to airways infections, along with many possible problems in the
respiratory tract.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
As I have mentioned above,
Sinecod Forte contains Butamirate Citrate. This is strictly prohibited during
the first trimester of pregnancy and caution should be applied during the
entire remaining phases of pregnancy and then during breastfeeding stages.
Because of this fact, I
would advise pregnant and lactating women to just avoid Sinecod Forte. There
are many cough medicine available in the market which are safe during these two
vital stages of your life and hence there isn’t any need to take risk.
