Arnab Goswami is an Indian journalist. He is the Editor - in - Chief of Republic TV, a channel started by him with little bit funding from Rajiv Chandrashekhar, a BJP MP (Rajiv has now withdrawn from Republic TV).

Arnab has around two decades experience in the electronic media. He has previously worked with NDTV and Times Now. He was the man who made Times Now a household name in India in a small span. His strong nationalist views on Kashmir issue, Left Wing Extremism and terrorism, among others. Unfortunately, his nationalist views were perceived as pro - Modi.

Recently, Arnab Goswami was appointed on the board of Nehru Library after the resignation of Pratap Bhanu Mehta.

Arnab Goswami was born in Guahati, Assam on 9^th October, 1973. He belongs to one of the most influential and respected families of Guahati. His grand father was an eminent jurist while his maternal grand father was a well-known Communist leader who was once the leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly.

Arnab parents – Manoranjan and Suprabha Goswami – are also eminent personalities of Asom. Manoranjan Goswami had fought 1998 Lok Sabha Election unsuccessfully on a BJP ticket. His maternal uncle is still a prominent BJP leader.

However, Arnab has always ensured to keep off his political associations at work. Some of exposes he has done against the BJP, like Sushma Swaraj-Lalit Modi case or Modi’s alleged scooping scandal are cases in point.

Arnab father Manoranjan Goswami was a Colonel in the Indian Army and because of this he had studied in various Army Schools throughout India. He did Graduation from the prestigious Hindu College, Delhi University. Later, he got admitted to the Oxford University from where he has done MA in Social Anthropology.

Career in Journalism

Arnab started his career with print media and did short stint with The Telegraph. Later, he shifted focus to the electronic media and joined NDTV in 1995. He became the Senior Editor of NDTV 24 X7 when it was launched as a 24 hour news channel. His News Hour program was quite successful. However, at NDTV he never got recognition because of the influence of Rajdeep Sardesai. It is said that Rajdeep did everything to cut the wings of Arnab at NDTV and never allowed him to make his own personal identity among news watchers.

Pipi Goswami is the name of Arnab’s wife. They studied together in the Hindu College. Little is known about Pipi, but once Arnab said that she is also a journalist.
